Northern
Irish DJ charity Keymix are offering one budding
DJ the chance of a dream DJ gig on their outdoor
stage at Planet Love WKD 06.They are hosting
a DJ competition over the next few weeks which
will run from now until the closing date on
August 5th.
Six finalists will be chosen from the entries
and they will battle it out in front of a
panel of judges in the Elephant Room in Belfast
on August 26th .Applicants should submit a
30 minute CD in their preferred musical style
to KeyMix 5 Wellington Parade, Larne, BT40
1EG.The CDs will be judged by established
Northern Irish DJs and promoters who will
be making their decisions based on three main
factors: technical ability, originality, and
track selection. Alice
Ferguson of Keymix said: “There will
be no specific music style - just the DJ's
own preference. The idea of the Keymix outdoor
stage is to showcase the DJs playing their
preferred music style.” Applicants
should be careful to include their contact
phone number and the musical style on the
actual CD cover and on the CD, and they
should also include a separate note with
their name, email, and phone contact details.
“The reason for this,” said
Alice, “is when we get a CD in, we
will record whose it is and assign a number
to that CD so that when the judges are evaluating
the CDs they will only have a numbers not
names which hopefully should keep things
as equal and transparent as possible. At
the play off this will be the same....the
judges will just have numbers 1 to 6.”
The six finalists’ names will be announced
on this website and also the Keymix website
on August 15th.
