Full
details of Ireland’s biggest dance music
festival have just been unveiled, and the
8th annual Planet Love WKD Festival, in association
with BBC Radio 1, is set to rock Shane’s
Castle, Antrim, to its ancient core on Saturday
September 9th!
Over 70 of the world’s most famous DJs
and artists will travel from across the globe
to Northern Ireland to perform on eight stages,
over 12 hours from 2pm until 2am.
It’s the biggest party the North will
see this year and it will be witnessed by
the whole of the UK and Ireland thanks to
BBC Radio 1. It’s a major coup for the
homegrown festival that Radio 1 has partnered
the event. Judge Jules, Fergie and Pete Tong’s
Essential Mix will be broadcast live across
the UK from Planet Love at Shane’s Castle,
while Dave Pearce will record his Sunday night
show, alongside other DJ sets for future broadcast
from the festival.
“It’s fantastic for a Northern
Irish festival to be recognised and supported
by BBC Radio 1 in this way,” said co-promoter
Judith Farrell-Rowan. “They are the
leaders of the global dance music scene so
this is a phenomenal endorsement for our event.
Their presence tends to create a magical atmosphere
at festivals so it’s very exciting for
all of us.”
World Number 1 DJ Paul Van Dyk is the headliner
this year, alongside dance music legends Chicane
who will perform their exclusive fully live
debut at Planet Love. As part of a star studded
line up the Happy Mondays will also perform
a DJ set.
There are over 70 DJs and artists performing
in total, and this year among the many genres
being embraced by the festival is Psy Trance.

WKD Brand Development Executive for Beverage
Brands, Judith Robinson, said: “WKD
is very proud to partner Planet Love this
year. The event boasts an impressive line
up, and the endorsement of BBC Radio 1 this
year is testament to the success of Planet
Love over the years. All at WKD are looking
forward to seeing you there.”
