Mauro
Picotto described it as one of the best nights of a career
that has spanned over twenty years and traversed the globe
many times!
The
Planet Love WKD Winter Party at the King's Hall in Belfast
on Boxing Night was a sell-out show, and as promised,
it was the biggest party the venue has seen in recent
years!
Clubbers
from across Northern Ireland were treated to momentous
DJ sets from the scene's most loved DJs, filled with
an intoxicating mix of party tunes and current sounds
and combining to create an electrical atmosphere in
the King's Hall right from Agnelli and Nelson's opening
set.
"It
was a brilliant show," said co-promoter Judith
Farrell-Rowan of PLM Promotions. "Every single
one of the DJs played out of their skin, feeding off
the energy in the place. The crowd was phenomenal -
completely up-for-it. As a promoter, it was an inspiring
gig."
As
doors closed on a full house, it was clear that this
was going to be a massive gig.
Italian
DJ Mauro Picotto was the star of the show and his most
famous productions 'Lizard' and 'Komodo' dutifully brought
the house down. He said later: "It was fantastic.
I felt like Robbie Williams! When I played 'Komodo'
I turned the music down and just let the crowd sing
instead. It was unbelievable."
Indeed,
Picotto got a second song out of the Belfast crowd on
Boxing Night. He celebrated his birthday on Christmas
Day and the crowd sang Happy Birthday to him!
Perhaps
the secret to the unique atmosphere of the night was
that many of the DJs chose to play their own massive
hits. Scot Project - a perennial favourite in Northern
Ireland at the best of times - closed a remarkable set
with his own hit 'Overdrive'. And despite having danced
for some eight hours, the Planet Love Winter Party crowd
kept up fervently with its
unforgiving
pace.
Frank
Zenker - aka Scot Project - had Belfast eating out of
his hand. And he loved it.
Two
private jets were deployed to transport the DJs between
the Planet Love WKD Winter Party and Cream in Liverpool.
Logistically, it was an intricate operation but it was
pulled off with aplomb by the promoters.
And
the best news is that it will happen all over again,
as Easter Monday, April 17th, 2006, will see the King's
Hall host the first ever Planet Love Spring Party 2006.
"The
line up will be different again and just as impressive," said co-promoter Eddie Wray.
Eddie
added, "We would like to thank everyone who came
along to the Winter Party and made it what it was. I'm
happy to see that the Northern Irish dance scene is
alive and well. And that's great for all of us."
